Project Description

In 2005 ITC signed a contract with IBM for the participation as subcontractor in the project of the installation at the National Meteorological Service of Greece of a new in High Performance Computing System for the Analysis of Meteorological Information.

ITC participated as a full partner in the project EPET-II SKIRON. SKIRON objective was to develop a fully parallelised weather forecasting model for parallel supercomputers. The successful end product is the model used currently by the National Meteorological Service of Greece. Following the success of SKIRON, ΙΤC participated from 8/9/1998 to12/9/1999 in the project POSEIDON of the National Centre for Marine Research as a subcontractor of the Norwegian company OCEANOR ASA POSEIDON was completed successfully and the system is operational since September 1999

Recently (August 2010), the company expanded its activity in meteorological forecasting by signing contracts for two more projects. The customers are a Petrochemical company in Netherlands (a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia oil producing company) and ENVIRON, California, USA.

In the first ITC project has five-year contract development and maintenance of an operational forecasting system for providing meteorological forecasting, transportation of dust, wave, ocean circulation in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. The specialized information is provided daily at all sites of the oil production company (oil, ports, airports, refineries, loading stations, offshore platforms, etc.).

The second project involved the ITC as a subcontractor of a U.S. company for the analysis of meteorological conditions that lead to pollution incidents in the Persian Gulf. The value of both contracts exceeds € 1.000.000.
